Atlanta - June 26, 2006: Robin Raina Foundation (RRF) announced today that it has donated fifty computers to each of its family of blind children in India.

The decision was made after a recent meeting of the RRF blind children with Robin Raina, the RRF Founder who had flown in from Atlanta to meet all the RRF kids in India. One of the problems highlighted by all the blind children was their struggle to keep pace with their studies, as the books keep getting revised every year and none of these books are available in Braille. Getting an audio book recorded takes times and the only other solution is to scan these books into the computer and specially written software for the blind reads out the scanned book to the blind child.
RRF’s family of fifty blind children are studying presently for their graduation in eminent institutions like Hindu, Kirorimal, St. Stephens, Kurukshetra University, Meerut University, Ramjas, Shaheed Bhagat Singh college etc. Each of these children is studying in these schools alongside children with eyesight from economically rich families, and has still been doing extremely well in their studies with all of the fifty children securing more than 55% in their exams. Each of these students receives an Indian Rs. 1000 per month scholarship from RRF to fund their hostel fees and studies etc.

The computers will allow the RRF blind child to keep up to date with other students in his class, since he can now listen to the audio of the scanned book as and when he desires to do so.
RRF Founder Robin Raina said, “We are rather proud of the accomplishments of all of these fifty children. Each time I spend time with them, I am amazed at the depth of their thought process, their sincerity, their magnanimity, their desire to succeed and stand on their own feet.”
Robin added, “I am quite confident that each of these blind children will make all of us proud by becoming senior administrators, armed forces employees, call center officers, teachers, poets, script writers, musicians and above all great human beings.”
RRF also issued an appeal to all its donors to donate generously so that it could continue adding more blind children to its Blind Aid project dedicated to providing education and hope to under-privileged blind children. All donations payable to Robin Raina Foundation should be sent to:
