Robin Raina Foundation and Delhi based Shine join hands to launch a school for Noida slum children. This noble effort is destined to bring new hope in the lives of thousands of underprivileged children and inevitably substantiates the famous saying, “Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours.”
In June 2007, Robin Raina Foundation (RRF) entered into a joint venture agreement with a Delhi based charity SHINE to work on a number of projects directed towards providing education, food, clothing, medical care and shelter to the slum dweller’s children in Noida and surrounding areas. The agreement to work jointly under the brand name RAINA-SHINE was signed between Shamit Bhartia, Trustee of Shine and Robin Raina, Founder of RRF. As a part of this agreement, a new school was started in Gijhore village (Sec-53, NOIDA), which currently enrolls around 1000 children. All these children come from very low-income families and are living hand to mouth hence education and health are not on the priority list. The school is providing all the facilities to these children like stationary, school uniforms, shoes, food, distilled water, play facilities, refrigerator, television etc. in addition to quality education.
Raina-Shine Project consists of following programs –
Early Childhood Care and Development (4-6 year): Under this program we provide basic numeracy skills to the younger children from slums of Delhi and NCR. This in a way acts as a substitute care for siblings, thereby freeing older ones (especially girls) to go to school who are otherwise expected to babysit their younger siblings while parents go out for work.
Primary Education (6-14 year olds): In marginalized communities where access to quality education is either missing or unaffordable, we are providing primary education (from K.G to IV) to at-risk children. The aim of the program is to encourage the parents to send their children to schools and to combat early school dropouts.
Age Appropriate learning Centre (AALC): The aim of AALC is to provide children from marginalized communities of Delhi and NCR, with basic literacy and numeric skills and information relevant to their social condition. The aim of the program is to mainstream the children into regular schools and avert child exploitation and child labor.

Raina-Shine project is making every possible effort to create lasting change in the lives of these children living under the menace of poverty and inadequacy by providing quality education and fighting Child Labor & Child Exploitation but we still have a long way to go and at every step your support is required so come forward and donate generously for this noble cause.
